Musicians have long been playing fiddle music in the Appalachians for years, but it wasn’t until 1927 in Bristol, Tennessee that the first recording country music recording deal was signed. In this year, Victor Records signed Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family. Jimmie Rodgers was born in Meridian Mississippi, in 1897. Originally he worked on the railroads until his ill health got the better of him and it was only during this time that he followed his earlier love of entertainment.

Born at Meridian Mississippi, in 1897 Jimmi Rodgers worked on the railroads. He could not cope up with his ill health and it was during this time when he followed the inner voice and joined the entertainment sector. As Victor Records was setting up a portable recording studio in the year 1927 he joined it immediately. He continued recording and playing the music for the band established by Victor Records.
He became one of those first musicians along with Hank Williams and Fred Rose who were added to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Carter Family also signed Victor Records on the same day when Jimmy Rodgers signed Victor Records. They remained along with Victor Records until 1936. Together they continued to record until 1939. Things began to become bad at this stage of time and despite signing for Universal and eventually with Victor Records again, the band got split in the year 1941.
It was this day which is supposed to be a big day in 1927 when country music was introduced with the rest of the country. Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family became incredibly popular by selling great many records. There is a major contribution of Jimmy Rodgers and Carter Family towards the development of bands and singing of country music.
